Gap Analysis
Identifying and closing gaps effectively
Companies are under increasing pressure in the area of sustainability. Stricter laws, such as the EU’s CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) or Switzerland’s reporting requirements on non-financial matters, as well as higher expectations from customers, investors and partners, make reliable sustainability information essential.
With the help of a gap analysis, you can compare the status quo of your strategy, processes and data with relevant standards (GRI, SBTi, TCFD, etc.) and voluntary benchmarks (e.g. EcoVadis, CDP). This allows you to see at a glance which requirements you already meet and where there are still gaps.
What a targeted gap analysis can do for your company
- Regulatory security – identify which legal or reporting obligations (CSRD, OR 964, etc.) still require action.
- Targeted resource planning – realistically estimate the effort and costs required to close the gaps.
- Clear priorities – structure potential for improvement and translate it into an actionable roadmap.
- Competitive advantage – provide evidence for ratings and customer requirements, thereby securing market opportunities.
- Transparency & credibility – a sound database builds trust among stakeholders and facilitates future reporting.

The right approach for your company
Whether it’s first-time reporting, new regulatory requirements or changing requirements from business partners or customers: A gap analysis is the most effective way to identify specific areas for improvement, develop a strategy to close the gaps and ensure compliance. We will work with you to find the right approach for your company.
Our three-step approach
1. Status check
First, we analyse the current status of your company with regard to sustainability strategy, management and/or reporting. We review the relevant documents, such as sustainability reporting or company guidelines, and obtain further information through discussions with sustainability officers or other key persons as required.
2. Target/actual comparison
We then compare the actual status with the target status to identify any discrepancies. When doing so, we consider at least the requirements that are relevant to you (e.g. CSRD, KVI). If necessary, we can also take into account additional standards that your company would like to fulfil, or that customers or business partners expect from you. Based on the identified gaps, we determine where action is needed to improve compliance and fulfil stakeholder expectations
3. Action plan
Finally, we work with you to work out in detail how and within what timeframe the gaps can be closed. We help you to prioritise the necessary measures and give you concrete suggestions for implementation. This will provide you with a time-structured plan tailored to your situation, which you can use to close the identified gaps.
