Gap Analysis
Identifying and closing gaps effectively
Companies are facing increasingly stringent legal requirements and higher expectations from customers and business partners in the area of sustainability. A gap analysis allows you to identify discrepancies between your existing practices and the relevant requirements. Examples of legal requirements include the EU’s CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) or the reporting obligation on non-financial matters in Switzerland. In addition, companies can also use a gap analysis to check the extent to which they already fulfil relevant sustainability standards and which gaps still need to be closed and at what cost. Examples include GRI for reporting, SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) for climate targets, TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) for climate risks and also voluntary ratings and benchmarks such as Ecovadis or CDP.
The right approach for your company
Whether it’s first-time reporting, new regulatory requirements or changing requirements from business partners or customers: A gap analysis is the most effective way to identify specific areas for improvement, develop a strategy to close the gaps and ensure compliance. We will work with you to find the right approach for your company.
How SuCo supports you
We support you in analysing your status quo with regard to the relevant sustainability requirements, as well as identifying, prioritising and addressing gaps and potential for improvement.
Our consulting services include:
- Support in identifying the relevant legal requirements and other relevant requirements for you
- Comparison of current status with target status & identification of gaps
- Development of measures to close the gaps, including prioritisation and timetable
- Detailed documentation of the results
Our three-step approach
1. Status check
First, we analyse the current status of your company with regard to sustainability strategy, management and/or reporting. We review the relevant documents, such as sustainability reporting or company guidelines, and obtain further information through discussions with sustainability officers or other key persons as required.
2. Target/actual comparison
We then compare the actual status with the target status to identify any discrepancies. When doing so, we consider at least the requirements that are relevant to you (e.g. CSRD, KVI). If necessary, we can also take into account additional standards that your company would like to fulfil, or that customers or business partners expect from you. Based on the identified gaps, we determine where action is needed to improve compliance and fulfil stakeholder expectations
3. Action plan
Finally, we work with you to work out in detail how and within what timeframe the gaps can be closed. We help you to prioritise the necessary measures and give you concrete suggestions for implementation. This will provide you with a time-structured plan tailored to your situation, which you can use to close the identified gaps.
