Gap Analysis

Identifying and closing gaps effectively

Companies that identify their sustainability requirements at an early stage create clarity, strengthen the basis for their decision-making and gain confidence in their dealings with customers, investors and business partners.

Using a gap analysis, you can compare the current state of your strategy, processes and data against relevant guidelines, standards and benchmarks. These include, for example, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards for sustainability reporting, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for science-based climate targets and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) for climate risks, as well as voluntary ratings and benchmarks such as EcoVadis or CDP. This enables you to identify which requirements you already meet, where you are well positioned, and which next steps will deliver the greatest added value.

What a targeted gap analysis can do for your company

  • Regulatory security: identify which legal or reporting obligations (CSRD, Art. 964 CO, etc.) still require action.
  • Targeted resource planning: realistically estimate the effort and costs required to close the gaps.
  • Clear priorities: structure potential for improvement and translate it into an actionable roadmap.
  • Competitive advantage: provide evidence for ratings and customer requirements, thereby securing market opportunities.
  • Transparency & credibility: a sound database builds trust among stakeholders and facilitates future reporting.

How SuCo supports you

We help you to conduct a thorough analysis of your current situation in relation to relevant legal requirements and other sustainability standards. To this end, we assess which requirements are relevant to your business, compare your current status with your target status, and identify existing gaps as well as specific areas for improvement.

On this basis, we develop targeted measures to effectively close the identified gaps. In doing so, we prioritise the next steps, develop a realistic timetable and document the results in a transparent manner, providing you with a clear basis for decision-making regarding your next steps.

Our three-step approach

1. Status check
First, we analyse your company’s current status in terms of sustainability strategy, management and/or reporting. We review the relevant documents, such as sustainability reports or company policies, and, where necessary, gather further information through discussions with sustainability managers or other key personnel.

2. Current-state vs. target-state comparison
We then compare the current situation with the target state and identify any gaps. In doing so, we take into account the requirements relevant to your organisation, as well as any additional standards expected by customers or business partners where necessary. Based on the gaps identified, we determine where action is needed to improve compliance and meet stakeholder expectations.

3. Action plan
Finally, we will work with you to draw up a detailed plan outlining how and within what timeframe the gaps can be closed. We will help you prioritise the necessary measures and provide you with specific recommendations for implementation. This will give you a plan tailored to your situation and set out in stages, enabling you to close the identified gaps.

The right approach for your company

Whether it’s first-time reporting, new regulatory requirements or changing requirements from business partners or customers: A gap analysis is the most effective way to identify specific areas for improvement, develop a strategy to close the gaps and ensure compliance. We will work with you to find the right approach for your company.
