esg2go is an ESG rating and reporting system developed specifically for Swiss SMEs. It assesses sustainability performance based on quantitative and qualitative data across the three ESG areas: environment, social and governance. The result is a score tailored to the industry and company size, supplemented by sub-ratings, benchmarking and recommendations for potential improvements. Depending on the version, additional features such as reporting, a CO2 calculator or key driver analysis are also integrated.
The assessment is carried out via an online questionnaire. Companies use this to enter key figures and supporting documentation relating to key ESG topics. esg2go automatically calculates KPIs, key area scores and an overall score from the data provided. The scale ranges from 0 to 100, with 60 serving as the benchmark. In addition, comparative figures are used depending on the sector and company size.

The system not only assesses the ESG footprint, but also takes into account the so-called ‘handprint’ – that is, the positive contribution of the core business to the environment and society. In addition, features such as benchmarking, reporting tools and a key driver analysis are available, providing concrete insights into opportunities for improvement.
esg2go is available in several licence versions. Depending on the version, these include rating, benchmarking, reporting, support with data entry and interpretation, as well as additional modules. If desired, the rating can also be verified; regulations and partnerships are in place for this purpose, including with SQS as the preferred verification partner.
esg2go was developed by the Centre for Corporate Responsibility (CCRS) at the Fribourg School of Business, in collaboration with business partners, specifically to meet the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. The system is designed to provide a low-threshold, practical introduction to ESG assessment whilst offering sufficient depth to report sustainability performance in a transparent manner. It is therefore particularly suitable for companies that require structured proof of sustainability without having to set up a complex reporting system straight away.
esg2go is widely recognized by large corporations, procurement networks, and public institutions. Over 800 companies already use the tool to make their sustainability performance visible and comparable.

First of all, you should determine whether esg2go is the right framework for your organisation. Key factors to consider include the expectations of customers, banks, public sector clients and supply chain partners, as well as your organisation’s own level of maturity in ESG matters.

To ensure a robust assessment, the relevant ESG information must be collated. This includes environmental indicators, social and governance-related information, as well as existing policies, supporting evidence and internal documents. Only with a clean data set will the score be meaningful.

The value of esg2go lies not only in the score itself, but in the systematic analysis of the results. By making targeted use of benchmarking, key area scores and key driver analysis, organisations can identify specific improvement measures and gradually enhance their sustainability performance.
As officially listed esg2go professionals, we guide you from initial preparation to submission. After the assessment, we review the results with you, identify improvement potential, and define actionable next steps. We are also authorised to conduct esg2go audits on behalf of SQS.
